Picasso Emotion Portraits
First grade artists learned about artist Pablo Picasso. We discovered that Picasso’s art changed frequently throughout his life. We looked at three of his art periods: the blue period, the rose period, and the cubism period. During the blue period Picasso painted sad looking people using only the color blue. Picasso painted this way when he was feeling sad and having difficult times in life. During the rose period, Picasso’s life started to get better and he painted with happier colors like red. During the cubism phase, Picasso painted people with re-arranged facial features. We learned that the colors used in art can affect our emotions.
