Picasso inspired instruments
In this project fifth grade students were challenged to:
1. Discuss how jazz originated and why it is an important style of music in Kansas City.
2. Analyze cubistic art created by Pablo Picasso, as well as jazz paintings and collages made by Romare Bearden.
3. Construct a jazz instrument that shows influence of cubism, using construction paper, and utilizing a variety of folding and cutting techniques.
4. Reflect upon what we learned about jazz and cubism, and our craftsmanship as artists.
5. Display our finish pieces at Riverview.
