Picasso inspired CubisM Portraits
Third grade artists learned about artist Pablo Picasso. We discovered that Picasso’s art changed frequently throughout his life. We looked at three of his art periods: the blue period, the rose period, and the cubism period, but focused mainly on the cubism period. During the cubism phase, Picasso painted abstract people with re-arranged facial features. The development of cubism made art look simpler, through the use of flat colors and basic shapes. Cubistic paintings often looked like they were broken or shattered. Students applied the knowledge of these movements to create a portrait inspired by Picasso work.
